So Cam Janssen threw a late, elbow, charge, rough, intent to injure, pick a penalty Janssen broke it, and THERE WAS NO PENALTY CALLED.

Here the Leafs feed (good announcers) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8mx_x8g7...

And here is the Devils bias, it was Kaberle's fault for watching his pass, there was nothing wrong with Janssen's hit and there was no reason for it to be a penalty feed, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgDUNn8q4qo

Janssen is suspended for 3 games though, should be more.

All of you who are saying it was clean if it wasn't late. He left his feet and there was an elbow, it was after the play.

And I love seeing a huge hit, IF IT IS CLEAN. I love that part of the game, but this hit was just terrible.

Hey Chiz, Janssen felt great about the hit huh? Why was he standing there staring at Kaberle, waiting for somene to come after him, and he's laughing on the bench.

yes the hit was late, he left his feet, and he gave him an elbow. Kabby was out before he hit the ice, and the ref was 10 feet away and saw the whole thing. AWFUL.

i am a Leaf fan, born and bred, but I seem to recall an even worse cheap shot several years ago during the playoffs.... against Devils D man Niedermeyer, by none other than our beloved Leaf enforcer of the time, Tie Domi.

The game we love has things we love to hate... and even though kaberle remains in a jersey hospital tonight, you gotta take the good with the bad . Jansen,, in my opinion, is not good enough to be in this league, let alone be allowed to do what he did to Kabby.

On a positive note, GREAT to see Tucker back tonight.

peace, Out.

I'm a leafs fan but have a soft spot for the Dev's since Scott Stevens was one of my favorite players. The hit was somewhat late. I do agree that Kaberle shouldn't have been admiring his own pass. That alone is a recipe for disaster. The real problem i have it the fact that Janssen left his feet to make the hit which is an automatic penalty. He also elbowed Kabby to the head. I think the NHL should adopt the "head checking" rule like junior hockey has. There is no room in any game for head checks. NONE! I can't believe that 2 refs and 2 linesmen didnt see a thing. the deep referee that was at the net coming out of the zone should have been watching and saw this. He had a number of penalties he could have called. I guess the ref was admiring Kabbys pass as well. The announcers from New Jersey are a joke. At least Harry and Joe for toronto tell you how it is.
Also, why the heck would they be playing music during the time when Kabby was down? Do they not think that officials, and medical staff need to communicate without interuption or external noises.

I am a Devil Fan, but I'm not an idiot. From far away the hit seemed legal. When they showed the replay, you notice he lifted his elbow waaay up. And it was sufficiently late. Of course, the injury was when he hit the boards head first, but Janssen has to have more awareness than that. Cam Janssen was just looking to rough up someone to intimidate them and things went a little wrong. The three game suspension is a good punishment for him and the Devils. He deserved it. Hopefully, he can come back to the game with a little bit more sense and finish the checks in less than 3 seconds before someone passes the puck. And this is coming from a die-hard Devil/Janssen fan. I'm sure he feels very bad for the late hit. I saw him banging his stick when Kaberle was carried out. I'm sure he knows he messed up big time. When someone gets hurt like that, you always feel like a dumb idiot afterwards. Let's hope this all blows over, although I know Toronto is going to go after the Devils later on. I am not Devils biased, I have, what's it called? Common Sense hehe. Late hit equals punishment. The guy is a goon, you need them in hockey, but they always have those moments where you yell: "What the hell were you thinking?"

im gonna agree with bob loblaw and andrew..i think that that definitely shouldve been something like a 10 minute penalty but i dont really agree with suspending him for 3 games. I am also against the hits to the head too..but notice that kaberle's injury didnt come from janseen hitting him right away..it came from him falling and sliding into the boards head first..yes i also think it was a late hit..but hey..sh.it happens..I'm sure janssen didnt mean for kaberle to get hurt like that..even scott stevens stated once that any hockey player who just kncked out a guy on the ice feels bad about it..although the hit was unneccessary, its hockey..and you cant expect there to be no injuries and no stupid refs..o and Janseen is not a scumbag thank u very much

Interference: Yes
Elbowing: No
Charging: No
Spearing/High Sticking/Cross-Checking/Slashing: No

It was an unecssesary hit, but not a dirty hit. The hit itself was totally clean. However, Kaberle had gotten rid of the puck for about 3 seconds before the hit. I think Janssen's suspension is just about right. It was unecssasary and unfortunate.

I love Cam Janssen but yes the hit was late. Now you may disagree but i think that he didn't deserve a 3 game suspension. Not like he was trying to hurt Kaberle, he was just trying to get a nice hit which is basically all he does

OK,Jannsens hit was definitely late,no doubt about that. And yes,Chico Resch is bias blaming Kaberle for watching his own pass instead of watching out for who's on the ice.But calling him a scumbag and saying his intent to injure is going too far.First, grow up....second,realize its a contact sport and late or not, some players thrive on that part of the game and occasionally guys are going to get hurt.

i think it was a cheap shot and it is about time the nhl did something i think after the drury hit they took so much heat from the media the coaches and fans they had to finally do something other than draw a paycheck.drury just said that he wasn't going to get mad and carry that baggage around to ruin his game.it wasn't sabre fans whining it was all fans in general speaking out,as i have said before i am not a sabre fan,but i know a late hit when i see one.you don't hear a team say anything about a legal hit when it puts someone out but something needs to be done about the intentional late hits intended to hurt someone.i like to see a good hard hit or a good fight but i don't want to see someones career ended and if a blind ref can't make a call then send out the enforcers that is what they get paid for.

Call me the whiny Sabres fan, however this is what Mr. Gallisano was trying to impress on the league last week. These types of hits are uneccessary, not part of the game. Now two premium players are out and two spot play goons are still in the line up. Bettman and his Croneys need to be given concussions!!!
