I don't have a hero. Everyone is a hero in their own way..if you only had the chance to listen to their life stories..maybe you can relate in some way...and thats heroic...because a hero is someone you can relate to but someone who had the courage to do something you couldn't and everyone possible did that in one form or another.

My dad and my great grandma.
My dad because he's always worked long hours and hard to give my brother and I the best life possible.
My dad has done everything he can to make me happy. I wasn't spoiled but I never went without. He'd take me camping and on vacations every year. He taught me how to be a proper lady and to respect everyone and treat everyone nicely even if I don't like them.
He taught me how to play the system in school to get good marks so I could go to college like he had. He taught me how to defend myself and not to let anyone walk over me.
My great grandma taught me the little things in life can mean more than money, fancy cars or being popular.
She taught me simple things like picking strawberries and apples can be a fun day out. That long bicycle rides are a great sunday afternoon activity. She taught me to draw and paint. She also put me through college.
Without my father and great grandmother my life would have been completely different. I wouldn't the well rounded woman I am today. I wouldn't appreciate all I have and know that not everything in life comes easy, but that you need to work for it.
I've never looked up to celebs and I never will. I have no need to when I have real people in my life that are better!

My mom She was a rock in our family she never judged she always listened (even when it was something she didn't want to know) She was a powerhouse. She was a women with 7 children who walked out on her husband in the days when you didn't do that. Unfortunalety 5 years ago cancer took her and she's still my hero. She fought her cancer like she lived her life, with dignity and reminding us to all live our lives.

My father. He sacrificed a lot and went to school at night for 10 years, doing his homework after us kids went to bed so we wouldn't be affected, only to get a great job to give us a good life.
He went from a high school drop out to someone who worked for the Big 3 with a Masters degree.

My Mother ... hands down.
Child of immigrants, she only spoke Polish when she started school. She worked hard, taught herself English, worked her way through High School (and this was during the Great Depression -- so you can imagine ... poor family, she is STILL attending school .. AND working on top of it). She worked her way through College (something that females of her Generation did NOT do for the most part), EARNED her income, EARNED her Graduate Degree as well, and when WWII intervened, she worked with the returning disabled Veterans as a Speech Therapist (she was trained as this and a teacher).
Married our father (a Paraplegic WWII Veteran), had us siblings, and STILL .. she was one to defy convention ... she wore slacks, she fought for her rights, and yes, she worked very hard all her life, being independent, managing the family finances (and yes, earning it too), and instilled in EACH of us the desire for further education, as well as a great love of family (protect and keep each other close).
When all of us were very young adults on Active Duty (which we had to be to pay our way through College) ... both of them died (our father had a heart attack while driving .. we TOLD and REQUESTED that they WAIT until we got home on the weekends to do things .. but they were TOO independent).
So yes, MY Mother was my hero ... and my inspiration to BE the independent Woman that I am ... the Military Retiree, the one with the UGrad and Grad Degrees, and the one who not just brought home the income, was able to walk away from a short disaster of a marriage, but to raise my children ALONE to their own independence.
