Are you using a burning program, like Nero-mix or windows media player? that will help walk you through the steps. Also go into your system tools and check your device to make sure its working properly.

When you burn a CD @ home the laser literally burns the song onto the disc, whereas a factory bought CD has the song manually stamped unto it. The problem you probably have is that the CD's are crap, your CD/DVD ROM drive can only write not record CD's, or the software was installed improperly.

If you have a cd/dvd writer, it should have come with software. Sometimes, when you put in a "blank" cd/dvd.... it thinks there's information on it. Try a few different blank CDs.... I'm sure one will 'take".

You are using to much RAM for it to operate right or it broke and you need to get new burner...
