American Superstars is a fun show
If you want to see an "old Vegas" style show>The Folies at the Tropicana and Jubilee at Bally's are both very good. IMHO Jubilee is the better of the two.
best afternoon show
Mac King - Harrah's>they hand out 2-4-1 coupons at the booth in the carnaval court next to Harrah's
IMHO - Larry G Jones - "the man of 1002 voices" - at Fitzgerald's is just as good as Danny Gans at a fraction of the cost>
Dirk Arthur "Extreme Magic" - Tropicana is another good afternoon show, tickets are only $29 and there are often 2-4-1 coupons in the "Today in Las Vegas" magazine in your room or hotel gift shop(free)
If you're a sports nut, a great place is the LV Hilton's Super book, you can play video poker(9/6 JOB>99.54%), watch sports & drink free.
Play $1 blackjack at Slots-A-Fun - Ellis Island has $1 BJ on weekdays - You can play craps for $1 in a very nice casino, on weekdays the Westin Casuarina has happy hour from 5-10pm, during HH you can play for $1. If you like Pai Gow Poker the Orleans has more $5 tables than anyone.
If you gamble, sign up for and use the slot club card. One of the most fun things about a Las Vegas vacation is opening the mailbox a few months later, finding free and or discount room offers to your favorite hotel.
We go to LV for 2 weeks or more at a time, 2-3 times a year and have for over 20 years. I only recommend things we have done before, some of them many-many times.

Hey I live in Vegas! Let's start with free stuff. It all depends on how long you'll be in town really, and how far from the strip you will stray. Treasure Island (the casino) has a pirate show that is pretty neat to watch, The Rio has a show every 45 minutes which is hard to explain exactly what it is, but I think they stop at 10, Bellagio has a very pretty, and romantic water show. Just walking through the casinos will keep you pretty busy. If you can get off the strip, Mt. Charleston and Red Rock are great places for site seeing. Those are all day trips though and some people are bored by Red Rock. There is a lodge at Mt. Charleston though, and it's really pretty there. That concludes the free stuff I can think of.
At Mandalay Bay there is a shark reef and I strongly urge you to go to that. They have more than just sharks, and it's sooo awesome. Trying to remember how much it costs, but I went like 2 years ago, it's def. under 20 dollars though. New York New York has a roller coaster (13 dollars I think), The Stratosphere has rides too- but it costs money just to take the elevator up. It's still awesome though and totally worth it. The Strip also has an awesome arcade underneath the M&M factory. I hope you are staying near the strip or all of this will be useless information for you. Pick up guides in airports when you land, or whereever, there is a lot to do here and not just for ppl over 21, I'm 18 and know it is possible to have a blast in this city without drinking or gambling. Hope you enjoy your visit!!!
I had to edit because I remembered more. There is a human body exhibit in one of the casinos, and circus circus has a mini theme park. it's really fun, though parking at Circus Circus is really annoying. The Luxor has awesome shows at its IMAX theatre, you should check those out for sure.

The last time I was there I went to see the Danny Gann show at the Mirage. If you are under 35 you probably wouldn't enjoy it as much. but it was great. the tickets were $100 apiece, but to me it was worth every penny. Also, you might try renting a car and going to the dam. After you have been awed by that you can drive on about 70 miles to the Grand Canyon. Mt. Charleston is also a great place to visit. The lodge there is beautiful. A bit pricely for lunch, but heck, if you are on vacation, you might figure into your budget a few "pricey" places to go to eat. In Downtown they also have a GREAT light show between the Golden Nugget and Horseshoe Casino, The Queens and The Freemont. Its a MUST see and it is absolutely free but amazing.
