Goalies wear a different colour jersey so that the officials can determine which player can legally carry the ball with his hands. Usually the colour is complimentary to the jerseys the rest of the team is wearing (i.e. yellow goes with blue, black/red, black/green, etc.). Some leagues have guidelines, but common sense would say that the goalie shouldn't be wearing a colour that matches the opposing team's jersey colour.

goalies wear different colors so the field players can pick them out from the rest of the field players when it gets messy by the goal. This is for the goalies own saftey. I don't think it matters what color they wear as long as it is different from both teams colors

The kit sponsor designs the shirts and what not. Keepers wear different colors to distinguish them from the other players since they are allowed to handle the ball inside the penalty box. It makes it easier for the ref so they don't accidently call a handball on the keeper.

its just a personal thing bout the goalie i think... they choose their own colors apart from the players and they make them those jerseys... and its also so that they could tell apart the players from the goalie so that they wont get confused.....

They use different colors because they want to be noticed by their team mates and the players of the other Team.Every Goalkeeper picks the color they want to wear,it doesn't matter if its blue, purple or even pinck they can pick the color they want because it doesn't really matter.

their colour cannot match that of their teams or that of their opponents. so the refs can tell who should be touching the ball with their hands and who shouldn't.
