The first way is that the moment that man created the flint, many uses were discovered. Some of these uses include weapons to defend oneself or to create fire. Both the weapon and fire show a type of evolution in possibilities.

With the flint, man shows to have an advantage over another man or animal while in battle. Fire also served many purposes that were not possible before, such as in cooking and in protection from other beings or creatures.

With this newfound power in the flint, man realizes that he is capable of fulfilling many more of his needs that were not possible before. The flint serves as a leverage in a sense, since it allows pre-historic man to move forward into more discoveries.

Pre-historic man had wishes of having a leverage in survival, whereas modern man had wishes on conquering other nations (something that pre-historic man may not have thought about yet). The only way that pre-historic would have thought about this would have been if more food sources were available in other regions. Even then, pre-historic man's goal would have been related to his basic needs and not conquering for the sake of ruling.
