okay. id have to say a great majority of music from the 60s and 70s is excellent for this as these were the original rockers and rollers. Everything worth listening to was made during this time. As it all was made by hand with minimal machinery/electronic influence. Id suggest Pink Floyd to start with. If you are looking for music with deeper meaning that is. Also listen to some beatles they did a huge variety of musical styles and covered many a topic going on during that time. Really there isnt just one style of music to get lost in. There are artists though. You know what I mean? It really depends on what you like what you feel like hearing you know. If you like heavy stuff that expresses anger and hate and things of that nature usually go with some heavy metal, I mean its all up to you just try a few out see which one fits your persona best. It'll find you.

Im crazy for Ray La Montagne right now. It is my favorite driving CD. I like things like Him, and Jeff Buckley and melodic lyric based artists.

Tori Amos, Imogen Heep, The shinns, Remy Zero, Ben Folds... Things like that.

Check out the song called Shelter on the Trouble CD. Ray La Montagne is the sh*it!

You can view his video on Yahoo music too... it's great!

Though I enjoy most varieties of music, I prefer classical music to anything else. However, the political parodies by the Capitol Steps get me going, too.

if the beat of a rap song is good, i can listen to the beat without paying attention to the words and rant in my head- very therapeutic
and when i dance to pop/r&b songs, i really get into the rhythm

Blues, with a good artist, you could almost feel the guitar and harmonica take your soul for a flight out of your body.
