I work at jiffy lube and most of the cases like this that I have worked on are because the fuel filter has never been changed and is clogged. Could also be injectors and/or fuel lines. You can do both new filter and fuel system cleaning for about $90. They are both 100% money guarantee and a year warantee .

The fuel injection system is clogged or the idol rate is too low.. wither way clean the fuel injector, if it hasnt been done in a while change the fuel filter... maybe run some octaine boost 60 through your tank... if none of these work the atomatic throttle ratw has slipped to make it throttle to low to sustain the engine. the throttle works by regulating the gas into the system while it is not being ran in drive with your foot on the gas... so one of these 2 things should fix it no matter the make and model it is the same on all cars. hope it all works out for you (ps if u change the fuel filter yourself make sure u put it in right and before u remove the old one kill the fuel through it best bet is to buy a book that tells u how to do every thing at autozone or local vehicle parts store.... good luck

Ah, the Bonneville. YOu have a 4t60-E Automatic transaxle. Now if its stalling when your in park. Now if u come to a stop sign while in drive and it stalls as well. Its your Torque Converter Stator Clutch. No, you cant service them, but u can get it replaced.

Ok First thing Sounds like your torque converter is locking up. easy fix by a qualified perfessional. Second if it smells like gas don't be smoking you probably have a bad injector.

not one of the above. this is likely an ignition problem or a gas clear out problem. the gas clear out is the most inexpensive element to attempt first. if that doesn't restoration it you've were given an ignition module breaking down.

IAC-- Idle air control motor may be dirty or not retracting properly
EGR valve may be stick open causing it to die
More then likely one of those two
