I am trying to start a company and I have a name but i wanted to know if it was used before i started applying or registering for name.. I need information on this process.

You can navigate around your states department of commerce website, and they should have a place where you can check. My boss does it all the time at work, but I am not sure how to step you through the process.

The first thing I would do is is search for the name that you are wanting to use on yahoo domains. If the Domain name is not taken buy it (2.00 a year) It will help you in the long run. Even if the name has been taken, but the domain has not BUY IT you may be able to sell the domain to the company that owns the name. Sorry for the short post, but im quite busy.

Go to Entreprenuer.com they will be able to tell you for a small fee. But Im sure you could google it and find other company's that could do it for free for you. Good Luck!

you need to go to the county you're living and apply a assumed name of the business.They will tell you if the name you want to apply is already been taken.
