Most of the additional Windows components have been phased out for ME. Your OS is outdated and most likely will not run those components properly. The easiest way to solve this for about the next year to two is to upgrade your PC to at least XP. There are still some sites though that do still have those components for ME but they are few and far between. If you are in desperate need for the newest WMP then upgrading is most likely your best option. Also, upgrading will provide you with newer security fixes as well as improve overall performance (based on the hardware you have) of your PC.

Because Microsoft has terminated support of Windows ME, I believe.

Get UBUNTU or XUBUNTU, they are free, reliable and up to date operating systems. Once you have one installed you gain access to thousands of programs created by the open source community.
