If a person has been divorced for 10+ years and the ex-husband lives in a different state (where the divorce is filed) and has not been honoring this divorce decree? Will I have to retain an attorney in the state that the divorce is filed or can I hire one from my own state?

Generally, the State in which the divorce decree was entered maintains jurisdiction over the case, and any order thereto; given a showing of undue burden for the Court, it may relinquish its jurisdiction to another Court, but this is unlikely.

If you have been divorced for 10 years in a different state, you are divorced, it doesn't matter if he honors it or not. You can live in different states and get divorced.

You can file for divorce in any syate. I did. Was married in Alaska, divorced in Arizona.
