Just for the record, Sara, the English guy that Eleanor married was Henry II, father of Richard I (Cour DE lion), John I (signer of the Magna Carta), and Geoffrey who was killed and never succeeded to the throne. An excellent movie based on this rather tumultuous marriage and well worth the effort is " The Lion In Winter" with Peter O'Toole & Kathern Hepburn. I promise , you will not be disappointed.
The Tudor period produced the most trajic historical characters, Mary of Scotland, Edward VI( The boy King) and especially Queen Jane, (Lady Jane Grey-The Nine Day Queen)

I don't really have one,but I found the reign of Queen Eleanor of France quite interesting. She was the ruler of France from 1136 until her marriage from King Louis the 2nd was annulled. She was duchess, and countess of many French areas in France before she was married and it was said her Father [who left her in control of these areas] owned more land then the King. She was fifteen when a marriage was arranged with "King Louis the Fat's" son,and later became Queen of France at the age of 15. The marriage did not last long, and she was married 1 more time to an heir of England, but after that, and then was locked in jail for 16 years for having an affair, and 3 illegitimate sons.
She was then excommunicated after being released from jail, from Pope Innocent after he learned that she had annulled the marriage of a man of whom her younger sister was in love with,so that her sister and him could be together, therefore abusing her powers in the government. There is no history though going past that.

Abe Lincoln. Had to hold together a country that fell apart when (because?) he took charge, had lousy generals to fight a civil war, considerable infighting within his cabinet, criticized vehemently throughout both personally and for his job performance, lost a son and had his wife break down during his tenure, and gets shot at the end of it all.

The bottom line is: what did he do even with those difficulties? He freed the slaves, albeit slowly. He found leaders who won the war and held the US together. Heck, he even held an election in the middle of a civil war. So, he's my favorite and most admirable ruler.

The Pharoah Maatkare, better known as Hatshepsut. She was not the only woman to rule Egypt on her own, but she was the only woman ever to rule Ancient Egypt as a king. She even went so far as to live like a man. She adopted the Pharoah's manner of dress, the false beard, the crowns of Upper and Lower Egypt and the male title of Pharoah.
She was the original feminist. Talk about girl power!

i think of it relies upon on what you pick the ruler for. If it incredibly is for stitching, then a backyard stick is terrific. If it incredibly is for college, then 12 inch is powerful. If it incredibly is for crafts, then perhaps a 24 inch is terrific. Having a style of rulers is in all possibility terrific.

I am proud of all women rulers because like they say this is a man's world and for these women to succeed to being rulers couldn't have been easy. To name a few the African Queens, female presidents who we are seeing a lot of lately and many other women we don't hear about who have gotten to high positions.
