it was called zane izel and it was covered in a green and white paper cover.there was a slight disenfection smell off it.the paper was not very soft to your skin.it was great to use for tracing paper and you could even wrap it round a comb and play tunes like you could with a kazoo.

good grief! you can even buy it online!
http://www.carbolicsoap.com/toilet-paper-p-905.html
but to quote from the blurb . . .
"Not for the feint hearted, this toilet paper has been manufactured for many, many years. Be in no doubt that this is not in any way soft like modern toilet papers. Izal reminds us of the "tracing paper" style toilet paper you used to find in school. Many people still use this as their toilet paper of choice, however we sell it more as a novelty than anything else. We at the Carbolic Soap Co. pride ourselves on testing all products before we sell them so we can give an honest opinion on how the product performs, however we have had to draw the line on this one!"
quite so.

It was called izal medicated toilet paper. It comes in a little box of individual sheets and looks a bit like tracing paper.
I think it is still avaiable at some super markets.
My Aunty used to have it and I think she kept it for when we kids visited to stop us from using a whole roll of paper :)

It was Izal and was 1) Slippery when not scrunched up and 2) Painful when scrunched up.
They should make it compulsory in prisons.

I still have a friend that supplies it in both of their toilets as an alternative to those that have a need to suffer.
