Are we rather uptight about talking about sex, premarital sex, homosexuality, and other topics? More than other countries? And, is that a bad thing?

No, America isn't the "most prudish". Some countries don't allow woman to show any flesh except their eyes.

The whole thing about the U.S. being prudish is a joke. I mean if the USA is really all that prudish then what is Saudi Arabia. . . or Iran? Most countries in the world are more conservative than we are in every way, it's mostly just the countries that have a higher percentage of white people that are the opposite. Europeans go on and on about this but meanwhile white women are viewed around the world as sluts- is this something to be proud of?
Not only that but the whole thing about the U.S. being connected to Puritans is way overblown and has nothing to do with being prudish anyway given the South had the fewest Puritans and is the most conservative, not the least. I for one like the fact that Americans are more global and not so extreme in this way like some in Europe. Some of them are such a joke. There's nothing worse than someone who tries to be sexy but fails. Whenever I see some of their base behaviour I roll my eyes and wish I was Asian, Indian, or just something else- anything but Caucasian. White people need to wake up and start acting respectably. You don't have to be religious, just tasteful.

Americans are a diverse nation having opened it's shores to many immigrants all bringing with them their own traditions and ways of belief many if not all coming from nations where the right to free speech is suppressed and those ways are handed down through the generations.Its not a bad thing per-say considering there are countries that punish adultery with a death conviction.

America is one of the most sexually repressed countries in the world, along with Japan.
I dont know about prudish though.

If our country was prudish, then little girls would not be having sex and having babies. I wish our country had more morals.

Japan and Germany are more prudish and so are a lot of middle eastern countries.
