I know it even says it is fiction, yet Dan Brown also says that all of the sects and their secret meetings are true, how can it be false and true at the same time? Don't misunderstand what I am asking please. I know it is false. I am not asking christians to debate me, or to give smart alec answers.

I do not believe in the DaVinci Code because I believe that the bible is a more reliable source of information, and the two are contradictory. I have greater confidence in the bible because it was compiled from many ancient manuscripts that contained complementary ideas and facts although they were written by different people in different eras. For example, a look at the book of Matthew in a Bible that includes cross references will show that many of the events that are recorded there were predicted in various books that are included in the Old Testament.

Isaiah 53 is a popular example of an Old Testament passage that is commonly believed to predict events from the life of Jesus, who was born hundreds of years later. This belief is based on statements in that passage such as , "He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows"; and "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all like sheep have gone astray , each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all."

That same chapter also says, "And who can speak of his descendants? For he was cut off from the land of the living." If this is an accurate prediction, then Jesus did not have a child by Mary Magdalene. The New Testament records of his actual life on earth do not say that he did, either. So, two out of three sources deny his having done so, that is, if we break it down as Old Testament vs New Testament vs The Da Vinci Code.

It is important to note, though, that many Jews do not believe that Jesus was the Messiah to whom the Isaiah passages apply. Also, a passage in Isaiah 53 says that "he will see his offspring and prolong his days", which could be taken to mean that he DID have physical children. However, this comes AFTER the place where it says, "He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth." Consequently, it is more often interpreted to refer to the spiritual children that will be born into the family of God as a result of his sacrifice.

Hope this gives you food for thought.

I think that the book is fiction. It has some interesting ideas though. I would not be surprised if Jesus was married. I looked at the picture of the last supper it is very interesting. Sure looks like a woman to me and not just a young man. I also looked at other pictures listed in the book. I don't think they were as noticeable as the last supper. Secret societies, well I think those do exist. There are Freemasons all over the place, don't know what exactly they do. It is all very secret. I also believe that the churches tried to crush women and not let them do things. The Catholic church stopped there priests from getting married because when they died the money went to there families. If they had no wife or children the money would go back to the church. So to finish this off, I really enjoyed the book. I realize it is fiction but it sure gave you some things to think about. Very interesting.

I feel the same, that either way you believe is OK. I don't think Dan Brown researched his info very well if he truely believes that everything in the book is a documented fact. It is common knowledge that the family tree was planted in the french library then "rediscovered" The ppl who made the forgery later admitted it. There are at least a few other "facts" that are, to say the least, unprovable or questionable. The family tree is the one that really gets me though since you can't have the line continuing without the forged document. That said - I think it is a teriffic book, as entertainment, and have read it several times. I did think Angels and Demons was better though.

Most of the theory came from the Gnostic texts. The Nag Hammadi Library is the biggest collection of Gnostic writings. The book call “The Origins of the World” is a real shocker...it gives a whole new look at the “Creation”.

The Da Vinci Code is a work of fiction--I see no reason why I ought to take it as fact.

I believe the davinci code is real because in the bible Jesus was called Rabbi several times. According to Jewish law; a rabbi had to be married, and with a good family.

no, it is a fictional book and remember the author said so himself. if one tells a big enough lie then eventually there will be many who will believe the lie rather than the truth.
