I think middle names are nice. If the child doesnt like their first name they can be called my their middle. It was nice that my hubby picked one name and I picked the other. Either he picked first name or I did and then the other would pick the middle. So we each got to pick a name we liked :)

My daughters are:

Jade Helena Christina
Daniella Deanna

When kids go to school, they always get asked by other kids."What is your middle name"?I didn't want mine left out.All through life we get asked for our middle names in some situation or another.

Helena,my mothers name is Helen. But I didn't like Helen,so I made it Helena. His mother was called Margaret.I didn't like that at all.So I took his mothers middle name.Christina, plus it rhymed with Helena.A name from both parent.

Deanna.I loved my grandmother with all my heart and soul. She was like a mother to me.She is dead now.I wanted a reminder of her.Her name was Agnes. Not cool.So I took her all time favourite singer - Deanna Durbin.Old fashioned music, but cool first name. That's it.

Back in the day when (so it has been forever) that partners fought over stuff. One wanted to name one one thing while the other wanted something else so they compromised and got both. My thinking is it should be the mother. My goodness she did all the hard part.
