It's not hard but you have to want to take care of patients and go through nursing clinicals with people breathing down your neck. I am an LVN and have been for 15 years. I would recommend go ahead and get your RN (2 years) instead of LVN (1yr). I make good money 20/hr, but have been at it a while.

I have heard the tests are hard, and it would be worth going for your RN which only takes a little bit longer and you would get more noticed by hospitals and have more job choices available to you. My aunt is an RN and loves her job. Good luck with what you decide!!
