If the siding is in good shape, I would try and do as little to that as possible. I think it all ready has some charm. Have you considered flower boxes? Some additional landscaping across the front would be attractive. You can take your hose and lay it in a swirly configuration and kind of bubble out on the corners, does that make sense? You want to run your mower next to the hose just to make sure you can make the turns. You can edge that with those new landscaping blocks that allow curved edges or field stone or something. I think that an English Garden theme full of perennials would be cute, especially with the existing colors. Give the corners of the house and next to the front door the height. If you wanted to go a bush/tree route instead of perennials, Weeping Purple Beach trees would be a great choice for the outside with purple plum bushes along side the front door and box woods and along the middle. Although, I don't know what region you are in, do maybe that is way off base! Good luck, it is cute!

your only option for the siding is to paint because it is Asbestos so you can't remove it. But your probably not wanting to do that anyway. Well I think you need maybe some crape myrtle's in the front yard and some roses or hedges along the front of the house in your garden beds. maybe along the walk also. a fresh coat of paint would make the world of difference. and actually because of the color of the roof i'd go with the same colors that is on it now. you could though go with something a little brighter for the background color. do something with the railings and gable that will make it pop.
I think that a deck across the entire front is what that house needs.
look close looks like you may need a new roof soon.

you could bring that picture up in microsoft paint and play with some different colors. there are also programs that you can put your picture in and change the colors.. not sure what they are.

But the deck with railings would make it more updated.
Good luck

I don't know how the inside looks, but the outside isn't bad looking. You just may want to do some landscaping to make it look better.

I would paint it a sorta bright yellow and change the shutters maybe to a brick red.
