heart burn happens in the 3rd trimester because the baby is pushing up on the stomach and then the acid goes up the esophagus. Try tums or other over the counter antacids. Yes the baby can kick while you are sleeping but my guess is that your baby is just not a kicker. Good Luck.

She is probably kicking more when you are sleeping and trust me you will soon notice this too, but ask your doc if you are worried.. I too get heartburn from everything and I hate it too. I bought an economy size jar of tums at the end of my first trimester and its almost gone and I am at 35 weeks. I find the heartburn wakes me up often, when you are sleeping prop up some extra pillows to raise you up a bit, this really does help. Other than that eat those tums since they have calcium too, just do not take more than the recommended does. Good luck and hang in there, it will all be worth it.

OH my goodness i know how you feel with the heartburn! i take the soft antacid things and they seem to help quicker than the hard ones and taste better too. you might try sleeping propped up a bit. that helps me. Ive actually slept a few night in the recliner. I'm 27 and half weeks right now and my son is the most active baby. He kicks constantly. Babies have days where they wanna kick up their heels and days they just want to sit back and relax just like we do. She may be kicking a lot at night while your asleep. do you just love it when they start jumping on your bladder? LOL Good luck! your on the downhill slide of it now not much longer to go! Congrats!

The only time I got bad heartburn was when I ate a lot of junk food one day. If you're making the right food choices, then I suggest drinking a lot of water at night.
Don't worry about not feeling too many kicks. A lot of times the kicking goes on without you even noticing. When my midwife uses the doppler to listen to my baby's heartbeat, she'll tell me that sound was a kick and I wouldn't even feel it.
Congrats and all the best!

You would probably wake up if she was kicking you at night. I know my son kept me up all night sometimes with his constant kicking. And he never seemed to do it much until I layed down in bed at night. Yeah, I had horrid heartburn the last few months of my pregnancy. Just buy you a huge thing of extra strength Tums. They have fruits flavors now, too. Works wonders. That's the only was I got through that period of my pregnancy. And keep it with you at all times. And try your best not to bend over or bend down.

The new smoothie flavored Tums are much easier to take and I have them like candy before I go to sleep because the heartburn is so bad.
Most babies are nocturnal in the womb, I don't know why but I guessing it's because the mother is less active and the baby knows it so he/she wiggles around much more. They won't kick constantly but mine sometimes goes into a kicking fit like Billy Blanks!

I am the QUEEN of heartburn, and beating it.
Zantac is safe to take when you're pregnant, but talk to your doctor about it first.
You need to stay away from tea, citric acid (found in soft drinks), chocolate, anything tomato based, and anything else that you've found upsets your stomach. Mashed potatoes (without the gravy) are a really good heartburn deterrent. So is milk. Drink it like crazy.
You should also not eat less than 2 hours before you go to bed, and try to stay away from foods that are high in fat. They take longer to digest. Also, to speed up digestion, try drinking a glass of water before and after you eat a meal, as well as drinking something with your meal to keep things moving along.
Sleeping with more than one pillow behind your head helps immensely. You may also need to fix your room so that you can sleep sitting up if you have to. I've done that a few nights and believe me, if you're tired enough, it won't matter.

I have two boys and am 32 weeks prego with a girl also. I drink a glass of cold milk or I'll have a bowl of cereal before I go to sleep. I also sleep in my husbands recliner. I found with this one being a girl she does not move as much as the boys did. I hope this means she'll be a mild child cause the boys are hyper!! Lot's of luck!

Also it took some getting used to but sleeping almost in a sitting position really helped the heart burn.. so did drinking a glass of milk b4 bed.. not sure why.
Good luck.

my oldest son didn't kick a lot and i would go to the Dr to make sure things were OK. i think sub consciously i went so i could just listen to his heart beat, i thought it was the neatest sound. I had a lot of heart burn when i was pregnant i ate a lot of tums and rolaids. they say you can elevate your bed too. heartburn will go away once your baby is born. good luck and enjoy your baby
