i know 24k gold is pure gold. grab a calculator and figure out what 23k is... maybe 95%, 96% pure. gold is gold, foil or not. and one troy ounce of gold is 32 grams, the price fluctuates in the market and is measured in troy ounces. currently one troy ounce is 644 dollars or 20 dollars per gram. thats the value of pure gold per gram. if you melt it down your card may be worth less because it is 23k... but it may be worth more because it is a sports card which would raise the value... but as for just the gold content you're pretty close within the 40 to 50 dollar range

RE:
what is the value of 1 gram of 23k gold foil?
Does 23k gold foil have the same value per gram as 23k gold in its regular form? I have 23k gold sport cards that weight almost 2 grams. 24k gold goes for around 25 dollars a gram.

When you're investing, you're trying to be as efficient as possible with your money. That means you're trying to minimise costs (and particularly taxes). If you were to buy 1.40g of gold as you suggest in your statement, each and every time you buy a tiny little amount of gold, you'd be paying a large percentage of your cash as commission. Increasing the vendor's profit, NOT paying for your own gold. You're simply lining the vendor's pocket, without any gain to yourself. Over 30 years, you'll probably have bought the vendor another shop! If you were to become more efficient - by pacing yourself, and making fewer purchases of more gold, you would effectively be buying more gold for yourself, while paying a smaller percentage of commissions to the vendor.

i say gold is gold what ever form it is, gold goes for about 20$ a gram. my dad has like 2 or 3 binder fulls of 22k or 23k gold baseball cards, but they sell really cheap on places like ebay so they arent really worth that much, alot of people have them.

the cards you speak of have a large amount of paper to them. tye don't weight 2 gm of gold apiece, gold foil is less than a 1000th of an ainch thick. The gold content in your cards probably amounts to pennies. sorry!

the price can vary - somethings are more valuable because of what they are - others are more valuable by weight - try taking it to a local appraiser -
