When treating one fish with maracyn, is it safe to use it on the entire community tank. Is it also safe to be used at the same time as ick treatment?

I'm using the maracyn for an infection in one of my angelfish. I'm using a seperate medication for the ich.

I would add to what Venice said by saying yes, it is safe to do so and there would be no drug interactions or anything like that. Maracyn is safe for all fishes, but of course will completely kill your bacteria bed requiring you to recycle the tank so whenever possible it is best to remove an affected fish to a treatment tank. In the case of fungus you wouldn't be treating with Maracyn, but instead a fungicide. Some ailments that would require the use of an antibiotic like Maracyn should be a tank wide treatment while others would be a fish only treatment. You need to check on that with each disease. For example, fin rot should be treated in the tank as it is found in the water as well as on the infected fish. A swim bladder infection on the other hand is contained within the one affected fish and should be treated seperately if at all possible.

EDIT: Please specify the infection you are treating on your angel and I'll see if I can tell you if you should treat the entire tank or just the fish.

Don't over medicate. It's too stressful on the fish. If you have ich, the whole tank has been affected. Ich not only lives on the fish, but in the water and the substrate and you need to treat the tank. If you have a fish that has a different ailment, such as fungus, remove that fish to a hospital tank and treat with the Maracyn only.

Are you using the Maracide for the ich? According to the company's specs, these can be used together.

Whether or not these are safe for all fish in your tank, do you have any scaleless fish, such as catfish? Anything without scales can be more sensitive to copper-based medications.

Also, maracyn will disrupt your tank bacteria. You'll have to cycle your tank again. And remember to remove any carbon from your filter.
