what makes you need a birth control that has a higher level of hormones?

It goes by your weight. If you are thin you get less. If you are big you get more.

as in you were taking one kind and now you need a larger dose of hormones?
this would be because your body has be come used to that dose and it is no longer enough to keep you from ovulatiog. this is common for women who are on birth control for a long time.

In my case, it's to stop me from menstruating... for medical reasons that I won't go into at the moment
