And how do you feel about it? Many other chocolate companies also get their chocolate from West Africa's Ivory Coast using the same child slaves. (children as young as 4) I was curious to your feelings about this. If you'd like more information about this feel free to email me. I'd love to discuss it with you in more detail.

Oh hell, just when I thought there was something to depend on. Are they working with cocoa beans, or the actual chocolate? I think the beans.
Even if it is true, it really doesn’t surprise me much... a lot of shoe and clothes companies do it as well. I'm not saying its right, but that’s how American companies are, they’d rather pay a smaller salary to foreign workers; and overwork them.
I'm not sure if Hershey's does the same. I know if they are working then they’re getting some type of pay. And if the people think they are being taken advantage of, then they will boycott; not us. If we get rid of their jobs then they will go without work. It's a cultural divide, what we may consider inhumane slavery work could be normal labor to them.

Hershey corp in Hershey Pa hosts and maintains the most comprehensive private schooling system in the country for kids that can not afford to go to school. They are so advanced and so well funded that the schools mr Hershey started will last well into the future helping kids without funds. They should be honered. Read about them on the internet.

Actually, in places like West Africa, there is no schooling available for young children in rural areas, so they go to work with their parents picking cocoa. Often there is no other work available. If it weren't for the chocolate industry, these people would be unemployed in countries without the type of social safety net that the questioner seems to take for granted. That means: if the world boycotts chocolate, these families will starve.

I love Hersheys chocolate. I do not believe the company enslaves children.

Were you aware that the computer you are working on has components made in China. One of the most oppressive and inhumane dictatorships in the world. And I was wondering, how do you feel about it?
