I see no real signs of life in the repuglican party. Same ol' white mans race for the presidency. Just think how progressive it is of the democrats to not only have the first serious woman contender but also the first Black man. Amazing that I have seen this in my lifetime.

Many people regard President Bush as far better, as being far less a disaster than is primary opponent would have been. And a lot of us that feel that way are not republicans!
The liberals like to claim the high road but anybody with eyes and a brain can see that they are the ones always spouting the hate speech, always the ones calling names. They aren't offering solutions, just spewing hatred. A prime example is the idiotic and dishonest comment about Middle Ages. It is especially bad when history demonstrates time and again the the liberal, progressive path is one of consistent failure, time after time.
There are many things about Bush's policies I don't agree with but there are many I do. The same was true of Clinton when he was in office. He did some good things and he did some bad. Its a shame that neither party's tame pets can see that. You folks need to realize that all this partisan bickering is what is hurting us, is what is allowing this country to be stolen from the citizens by the government. While you argue inanities you are slowly being taxed to death and one right after the other is being taken away by both the democrats and the republicans.
The Republicans can be pigheaded and stupid, they prove that all the time with stands like the one on abortion or stem cell research. But the true hatred comes from the allegedly enlightened group who calls itself progressive. Look at history, you'll find the same mindless chants in the terrors of the Third Reicht, the USSR, China and a hundred other oppressive and failed governments. You aren't being progressive, you are mindlessly following a failed course and sound very much like those who came before you in the countries I mentioned above.
I would cheerfully vote for a qualified black person, hispanic, asian or a woman or a three legged troll with leprosy were they to demonstrate to me that they will work on behalf of the people and not sell their souls to special interests as BOTH the democrats and the Republicans have done time and again. Unfortunately, there is no such person that looks like they are going to run...AGAIN!!
Edit: The person starting this thread sent me a rather rude and pointless email. . He/she/it isn't even a US citizen should stop sticking their nose into our business and worry about their own country. They are not entitled to an opinion about our elections.

Well, first of all, most of us were never in the "middle ages" in the first place and we resent that silly characterization as much as you liberals resent being characterized as cowardly, elitist, arrogant, self absorbed, spiritually desperate, sexually neurotic baby killers.
If it is the social issues that have your knickers in a wad, I will say that it is possible to have principled reservations about a federally protected right to abortion and homosexual marriage without simultaneously being a religiously paranoid idiot. However, the truth is that there is plenty of idiocy on both sides of most social issues to go around.
If it is the war, well, I think that's legitimately debatable, at least in a strategic sense. Guliani is likely not gonna pull us out. Honestly, I don't think that any truly serious candidate is gonna take the position that we should pull out. The war strategy is a different matter entirely. In that, I think that the President is a bona fide moron. He quite obviously went into it without understanding the first thing about this enemy. He could have gone in with the Powell Doctrine but instead he followed Rumsfeld's "Simultaneous wars on less than $5 a day" strategy.
I will agree with you that his presidency has been an unmitigated disaster, however, I would also have to say that partisan hatred of the man has made the situation much worse than it had to be.

I think a lot of republicans are sick of being tagged as ultra conservative. I suspect that many are middle of the road that have only a few differences from middle of the road Democrats. I think Giuliani is an interesting candidate. Definately more middle of the road than Hillary Clinton (she's just pretending), and I still don't know much more about Obama than the press seems to adore him (which makes me suspicious). Out to be a fun year.
I have to add, he did a fantastik job of turning NYC back into a great city. NYC was a dive and a joke before he took office.

Unlike Democrats, Republicans do not tend to be one issue voters. There are many, many issues that are important to Republicans. The war on terror is currently the single greatest threat to America. As such, if Rudy gets nominated, Republicans will vote for him to be Commander-in-Chief over either Hillary who hates all things military or Obama who is strictly a novice.
It is too early to decide who the candidates will be. I am not convinced that Hillary or Obama will be nor do I think Rudy will be.

Yeah, I agree. As somewhat of a Libertarian agnostic, I applaud the fact that Giuliani isn't incorporating the bible into every plan of his. Both sides are looking pretty good right now.

It is scary that none of the offered up individuals are as conservative as JFK or MLK. They are all offering some entitlement. None of the ones have shown they have a vision for this country that would make this land better for their service. None have expressed a vision that would create wealth in the world. In fact neither party has offered some one worth of the office.

His gay rights support and pro-abortion stance are palatable compared to the Sitcom President's views. But Romney is banging the ol' "sanctity of life" platform to beat the band, so time will tell if the GOPsters will enter a political mindset more progressive than 1650 AD.............
