A bicyclist rode into the country for 5 h. In returning, her
speed was 5 mi/h faster and the trip took 4 h. What was her speed each way?

She rode 5 mph faster and covered the distance in 80% of her original time. Therefore, the extra 5 mph increased her speed by 20% making her original speed 20 mph. Pretty impressive on a bicycle.

? mph X 5 hours = (?+5mph) X 4 hours

5? miles = 4? +20 miles

5? - 4? = 20 miles

? = 20 mph

20 mph into, 25 mph returning. Here is the work...

5 hours into the country at 20 mph would take her 100 miles. Then, to return, if it only took 4 hours and she went 25 mph (20 +5), it would equal 100 miles as well. Hope it helps.
