You can level up your pet with on Mystery Island with codestones that you find lying around, get from Tombola, or from other users. Coltzan's shrine in the Lost Desert can also help. Or the Secret Laboratory Ray if you have enough NP to buy the map pieces.
And actually, Neopets was created for bored college students, not girls.

neopets is for girls. not to be mean, but it really truly is.
notice how they have things like makeup for your pet. would a guy ever do that to an animal?
