this is an hw assignment. i have to write a poem expressing a stereotype i have run across personally. would this free verse poem be it? it's about my dream of wanting to be who i am, not who i lead everyone to think. PLEASE give me some opinion. thanks :D
My Destiny
My destiny is to dream
Dream of who I want to be
My destiny is to live the way I want to
Live in independent freedom
And not care how others think
‘Cause those who mind don’t matter
My destiny is to love
Love without shame
My destiny is to live honestly
Not just to others but also to myself
My destiny is find true happiness
The kind that materials can never provide
My destiny is to live.

I dont see the stereotype either. I think the stereotype would be maybe that parents always try to control what their children become. Can you possibly work that in there somehow? How about starting with something like - "They are always telling me what they want me to be, but my destiny is to dream ..."

i write poems... i have even had a few published... since its about sterotypes you shouldn't write about your destiny. write about how people have affected your destiny and what people would think your normal destiny would be...

what is the sterotype? its not clear...its a good poem though, i like it,your wanting people to except you as you, but i guess i just don't see the sterotype(hick,dirty,skank,slut,geek,etc - those are sterotypes that comes to mind to me)
