I've seen many complaints from the answering community in this section about male coworkers/superiors making passes at them, and then trying to punish them when they inevitably get told off.

The question remains, why are those that take advantage of this situation to better themselves frowned down upon? Is it not empowering to use someone else for your own gains rather than being used for anothers?

Baba Yaga:

Takes two seconds to google it Baba. And yes, women can take advantage of these situations; they can blackmail the individual in question (if they are married) for promotions or other benefits, else they will have a nice talk with their wife about their afterhours fun.

You came into this question biased, get out until you can show some openmindedness.

I wish they would let you just delete peoples responses when you find them hateful. Would make for a much nicer discussion, really.

Baba Yaga has sufficiently pissed me off, here some more scholarly references for her to read under her little bridge.

Know what, screw it, I have a lab due, you can find it yourself, wench.

There are some cases though where beautiful intelligent women who work their way to the top through their own intellectual ability, high standards, and integrity, and yet they still get accused of "sleeping their way to the top" by insecure women.

The proof is in their ability to do the job. Often the women who actually do sleep their way to the top won't have the aiblity to do the work required of them and will soon lose their position especially if "things don't work out" between her and her influences.

The "gossipers" will often turn against another simply because they probably feel that they were at a particular company longer and the promotion should have been theirs. However, the woman who got the promotion may have had more education, has a higher EQ; has better public relations skills; proper training; more experience. But because she's also beautiful would cause a raucous among the less experienced, and they will attempt to create an uncomfortable environment for the newly promoted woman.

Take in to consideration, NOT all beautiful women sleep their way to the top. Contrary to popular belief, there are beautiful women with brains and integrity. ;)

Humans have feelings - no matter how hard they work at being cheap and calculating. When you play games with people - someone usually gets hurt.

So 'any' gender so completely lacking in integrity is frowned upon by those who find it dishonest and offensive. That kind of bartering 'almost' makes prostitution almost look good - at least the cards are clearly on the table. Plain and simple sex was not meant for any such things. In playing such debase games, we abuse what was once honorable. It kind of makes you wonder if there is anyone out there who is trustworthy, or who has any moral fiber.

I think it's related to "fairness". We all still want to believe what we were told as kids--that if you work hard you will be rewarded. Beautiful people already get ahead in the dating world; it can be frustrating for some when they get ahead in the working world too not because of doing superior work, but simply for their looks or sexual willingness.

But the real loser is the company, since the most capable people aren't being promoted and employees are being disincentivized from doing good work (why spend the time to do it right if the people getting promoted just slept their way to the top?).

I think the main reason is that women are very competitive with each other. I think many women see taking advantage of men's sexual interest in us as taking the easy way instead of using our brains to get men's attention and respect. Also, when women are very sexual, it makes other women jealous of the attention from men that woman is getting and makes her feel pressure to act the same, which causes an emotional conflict for her since the media sends messages to be sexual, while society emphasizes the importance of staying a good girl.

I must confess, derovious, I frown on women who get promoted because they are more flirty and sexy rather than capable. This has never happened to me personally, but I've seen it. I also agree with the first answerer when she states that a certain level of competition exists - it does exist. Many women won't admit it, but it's definitely there. Some women are more competitive than others. I personally don't feel threatened by prettier women, because I'm fairly content in my own skin. However, if I was overlooked for a promotion because somebody was sexier than me, yeah I wouldn't like it.

It is frowned upon because it is base in nature. It is an animalistic approach to problem resolution, and is demeaning to both the woman and the male participant. A man who allows himself to be manipulated by sex is proving himself to be incapable of resisting sense gratification. Lack of control of sexual urges is hardly a commendable trait, especially when it is exchanged for favoritism of a woman who has so little to recommend her that she must resort to using her body to get what she wants. Her prostitution belongs on the street corner, not in the boardroom. What can be said for the intellect of such a woman? She is as smart as a jungle animal? What can be said of the intellect of such a man? He is as smart as a rutting bison? I don't know of a single company that would consider it an asset. In my own company, however, it would be useful information when it came time for promotion.

These women have learned that since women are seen as sex objects in society, why not make the best out of it. I don't approve of it. But guys use their charms too and it is not uncommon. Maybe using sexuality for trivial matters like getting a discount or something is not that bad(tasteful way of using sexuality please), but in the workplace it is just wrong.

Your definition of a woman "bettering herself" is problematic. Women don't better themselves by sleeping with male superiors, they better themselves by having enough integrity to stand up for their civil rights.
Also the reason they look down upon the ones who do sell themselves to "better themselves" is because those women make all women look bad and they perpetuate the assumption that women can't get advanced in their careers unless their sleeping with their superiors. That's why.

I guess it is considered cheating. From a women's point of view, sex has monetary value. Most women, however don't like to use their "moneymaker" at work. It interferes with their husbands, etc. But if you are in a game where everyones's cheatin'-then you either cheat or go home broke!

Only in Liberal America is ever "fairness" Life isn't fair, and anture has it's way of showing us. And I hate to say it, but sometimes beauty AND brains, don't come in the same pack. But those women who don't have that "unattable" beauty, well get nasty at those who do, and use it to gain money and get their life in check. Where as, those beauties, sometimes don't have much upstairs. And Of course, I am talking about PHYSICALL beauty.

So, I say, if "God" gave you those attributes, then use them.

I don't really see what the differnce is when a REALLY smart girl uses her brains to get herself afead in life. So why not the girl with the nature, desired body do the same?

Oh wait, thats right, Feminist America has engrained it into our brains that only loose, immoral women use their bodies to get ahead, and that you HAVE to be smart to get ahead..well i am sorry, all woMEN are created equal. And you use what you got. Be it brains or booty. Don't hate the woman who uses her ASSsets, she might be doing the same to you because of your 160 IQ....
