Is it truly better to be alone and lonely or be with someone and lonely?

I have learned from experience that it is truly better to be alone and lonely...rather than be with someone and still feel lonely. It's better to move on if you can't work it out. It's better for both of you.

I would say alone and lonely. Either one is a choice that you make. You don't have to be alone AND lonely. But in my opinion, with someone and lonely is more painful. You are in the same position as being alone, just with more baggage that is hungry and wants you to feed it.

Alone and lonely is best... with someone and lonely gives you the feeling of rejection every time you are around them which, compounded with the lonely feeling, is compareably worse.

If I had to be lonely I'd rather be lonely alone. Being with someone and being lonely means you shouldn't be with that someone.

I can answer this honestly. I was married for 20 years and unhappy for about 10 of them. The last 10 were miserable and I was so lonely. We had money, great kids and yet I was miserable.
I can honestly say that the loneliest time in my life was when I was in a miserable marriage. Trust me.

Alone and lonely is much better. It still gives you the option of finding someone that you truely want to be with.

I actually think that it's worse to feel alone in a relationship than it is to feel alone by yourself. It is a lonely feeling that eats away at your confidence and self worth.

I think its better to be alone and lonely then to be with some one u dont care for and be lonely.cus as time goes by you will find some one u wont feel alone with.instead of being stuck with some one your alone with.Im so excited to watch the new cris rock movie called" I think I love my wife" cus its how i feel heheh...
