The way you phrase the question makes it seem that you have already made your mind up to whether Iran is a threat or not. Or rather to whom is it a threat and how. Why is a very misleading way to put a question, intention is put into the table by politicians and the like, to make promises. Or to have the moral height to condemn others' 'intentions'. If you explain 'HOW' and 'WHEN' rather than 'WHY' you might come up with an original point of view adhering to a rational range denied by the official story, the propaganda reality.
So i sugest you look into the Non Proliferation Treaty and what terms were established then on. Ask yourself who are violating those terms as part of official policy and who are adhering to the duties and exercising the rights bestowed by the said treaty, suppossedly legally binding.
Depending on what your grade is you should do different gradiants of research. Just google NPT and you'll find out what it says and what it is interpreted as. It will not be very difficult to find quotable data on the US' role in proliferating nuclear technology for belligerent purposes in a variety of critical places, such as war-bent Israel and unpredictable Pakistan. Oh, and Shah rule Iran.
That reminds me, most important to the issue is its relevance within a long time line of coflict and contradiction. That is, What is the history of Iranian-US relations? Look up Mohammed Mosadegh and how did his rule end in 1953. I suggest you check out the rule of the Shah and his SAVAK.
And in your last paragraph throw it down like a bomb, Iran's record the AEIA, their commitment to the NPT and to global peace efforts by seeking diplomatic relations repeatedly with the global superpower which is set on bombing Iran "back to the stone age". I would make reference to the nexus sought through the Swiss Embassy in the mid-90's (was it '93?) and the glorius promise that American policy-makers made to many nations in the past, rarely failing to deliver.
If you want to go a little further look up the British-American-Soviet impasse shortly after the second war. Perhaps make mockery of the whole thing; the US champions self determination but has no rival in its sheer amount of foreign adventures. That kind of thing. Furthermore, try out making a case that Iran has not been involved in an imperial war since the days of old, and that it lost a million people after being attacked US-supported Hussein, and that after all, the arabs don't have to be punished in order for the west to be forgiven for a history of anti-semitism.
Yeah, well, i lied. You can do much deeper research, like the types of things Iran did when it was an empire and compare them to other empires in history. And... check out the crusades, and the long history of West/East confrontation. That is, starting with the Persian Invasion of Athens (a messy affair, but theres a movie playing about it and that should be fun) and ending with the effect of the introduction of a massive foreign population displacing millions of natives as official policy, in the tempestuous as-of-lately Middle East.
Anyhow, whenever i went that deep into a topic i would fail. So i sugest you make note of what you find out and write an essay that demonstrates that American Liberty is the one thing that really make the Axis of Evil green and hell-bent on destroying civilization and women's rights. But then don't mention too many facts and your best answer is 'I don't know' if the true answer point to Anglo-US responsibility.
Hey, one last thing. You do know that only one country has used nuclear weapons, twice, on civilian population. That makes Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the place were up to 150 000 people were murdered in two nights, the only sites of a military nuclear attack.
Let me just digest that for you. Other countries have had nuclear weapons. Some of those countries have been at war, some of them have had further imperial regimes, others have been invaded by their neighbors, but none have used it, or offered it to be used by another country as the US has repeatedly done. (Look into the Soviet record on Weapon's Controls, find out what M.A.D means and who thought it made for a great systematzed policy; ****, the whole cold war!!!
I don't know kid, good luck and remember not to come up with a conclusion that opposes the US propaganda reality. You know, like the US is seen as a global threat throughout the globe; while Iran looks at its worst a stupid and arrogant and at its best, as a stubborn defendant the international compact that gives self-determination and asks to abandon violence as a means of international policy. How 'bout that?

The United Nations' 60-day deadline given to Iran to halt its sensitive nuclear activities has expired.

Iran remains defiant, insisting that it is exercising its "inalienable rights" to peaceful nuclear technology, wondering aloud why it is asked to deprive itself of aspects of the same technology fully enjoyed by others.

The United States and its European allies are now gearing up for a third Security Council resolution that could lead to sanctions in addition to those imposed in December.

On the diplomatic front, the Swiss proposal (submitted to Larijani in Bern last week as he was returning from a security conference in Munich) calls for full nuclear transparency, continued Iran-IAEA cooperation and the resumption of negotiations around the international incentive package presented to Iran last year by the so-called 5+1 (the UN Security Council's permanent five - the United Kingdom, China, France, Russia and the US - plus Germany). is a "dry enrichment" approach that stops the core function of centrifuges by injecting uranium hexafluoride into them. It would be the suspension of uranium enrichment without stopping centrifuge operations. The advantage of this option is that it provides a technical middle point where both sides in the nuclear crisis can converge. If adopted, it would mean that for the duration of any negotiations, Iran would refrain from enriching uranium while continuing with its pilot program and the busy chores of its scientists.

According to a semi-official Iranian website, Baztab.com, Iran has agreed in principle to the Swiss proposal and a key purpose of Larijani's European trip is to nail an agreement around it.

It is possible that a Gulf of Tonkin type incident will set off a conflict in the Persian Gulf. In the persian Gulf, the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower carrier group is being supplemented by the USS John Stennis carrier group. Maintaining two carrier groups and support vessels in the Persian Gulf is hugely expensive, so once all the components for an attack are in place, there will be incentive to use them. A Kuwaiti newspaper, relying on confidential sources in the Emirate's government, predicts that the attack will take place before the first week of April.

The carrier aircraft, useless against insurgents and terrorists in Iraq, can only be employed in a war with Iran, while the minesweepers would be needed to keep clear the Strait of Hormuz for oil tankers and other shipping.

you will get distinctive evaluations from that from people, and clever people open to talk can build a good case to argue the two perspective. the real problem, even nevertheless, is that Islam demands its rights yet provides no rights to absolutely everyone of the different non secular persuasion. to illustrate, you are able to convert into Islam, yet have not any stunning to transform out. Islam is a turning out to be cancer on the earth. sometime anybody would be training that faith, they are going to have not any determination. in case you look at each and every u . s . the place muslims exceeded 50% of the inhabitants, interior of many years different religions have been made unlawful in one way or yet another. there's a butchery occurring in Africa as we talk. absolutely everyone status interior the way of Islam gets the machete. awaken, my pal. The question you pose would be in basic terms theoretical in some generations.

You may start by researching the internet, Iran is only a threat to the US troops in Iraq they really arent a threat to the US itself they have no missles that could reach us that and they still dont have nukes yet they eventually will. Their president in his own comments said that Iserael should be wiped off the map, so Iran having nukes is more of a danger to our allies in the middle east than they acually are us.

The U.S. government says Iran is a threat because of their influence in the Middle East. That shouldn't be a surprise because Iran has been a factor in that region for thousands of years.

The U.S. would like nothing more than to see all countries in the Middle East become democracies and wants Israel to be the dominating force in the region.

The talk about nuclear weapons is bogus. The U.S. government doesn't want any country it deems as enemies to have nuclear weapons. Problem is, Iran has the right to build its nuclear weapons....just like the U.S. and Israel has built up theirs over the decades. The U.S. government is basically trying to tell the world how to run their country because they (the government) wants to benefit from everything. It's all about power and money. In this case...it's about the oil.

As far as Iran being a threat to the U.S., that's bogus also. Iran knows not to try anything against the U.S., just like Saddam Hussein knew not to try anything against us.

Whether Iran is threat to USA or USA is threat to Iran, this you have to judge yourself. Iran is far away from becoming a nuclear power and its Government is constantly denying its intention to prepare nuclear weapons. On the contrary it can play important role for peace in middle east.

First of all, don't buy into hat the zionist media spreading lies and rumors about Iran.

Iran is not the threat to anyone, even though some Irani official expressed very "personal" opinion regarding the Palestinians plight and Israel's flagrant aggression .

Just like the big lie about Iraq' WMD and the Yellow cake, Israelis are spreading all kind of manufactured lies and propaganda to divert attention from their policy of land grab that belongs to Palestinians.

Iran is a sovereign nation and ultimately gain its wishes to become a deterrent power.

The whole world opposed china's quest for atomic aspirations showing "immoral" fears of Armageddon, but finally they accepted grudgingly the inevitable.

Iran is no different!
