yes, up until the introduction of TV. movie theaters were in almost every town in America. they were the primary source of entertainment and in smaller towns its would be more of a type of tent revival. about once a week it would be set up in a tent or larger hall.

The first moving picture was at the Nickelodeon Theatre in Pittsburgh in 1905. The first talking picture was The Jazz Singer in 1927. In the 22 years between movie theatres were very popular forms of entertainment. So, yes there were theatres in small towns in 1921, but they were silent pictures.

they werent movie theatres as you would know them, more like a small room, where if they got new roll of film, would invite people over and poeple would pay into them.
