We love the name Nicholas but our daughter is Alexandra, would the kids be made fun of because they sound like a Czar and Czarina?.

no, those are beautiful names, and people are ignorant these days and i doubt they even know what the czar's children were named much less what a czar is.

Just a thought but most kids who would do the "teasing" won't make the "historical" connection. And you will probably call your children by nicknames as well, which would further eliminate a reference to the Czar and Czarina.

In my opinion I don't think so the kids be made fun of because they sound like a Czar and Czarina, beacuz I am personally a kid and I don't even know who those people are!

Are you kidding? I would understand if you were planning on naming him Alexander, that would be weird. However, Alexandra and Nicholas have no relation what-so-ever. Whoever told you that should see a doctor. Excuse me for my rudeness, but I think you should stick with Nicholas, it's a beautiful masculine name for a boy, and your kids' names are just great. Alexandra and Nicholas, are two equisite names! Godbless.

With education being what it is today, the chances that most kids (or their parents for that matter) would even know of Nicholas and Alexandra is pretty slim. Good solid names for the kids.

I don't think most people would make the connection with the names. Nicholas is a great name.

I really think people should just name their children what they like and not worry about other peoples opinions. I doubt many people would make the connection to history unless you point it out. Asking on here about baby names is just asking for points of view that you really don't want as everyone has different tastes for names. Not picking on your choices but I don't like the name Nicholas all that much and I am sure if I told you my boys names you would most probably not like them either. That is why people have different names as everyone has different likes and dislikes. Just choose what you like and to hell with what people think.

I would still go with Nicholas if I were you. I don't think most people would make that historic connection, even if they do, who cares. Alexandra and Nicholas... I think it is cute!

Congratulations!
