The only way I can stay motivated to clean my house is to turn off the computer and television and turn up the radio to something fast, the music helps me to stay motivated.

Well, when you're cleaning, you should have some music playing. I don't know why, but music and dancing and/or singing along to the music usually keeps you from looking for other things to do then clean the house. If that doesn't work, then maybe you should think about what would happen if you never, ever made the effort to clean the rest of your house. That should work. But if for some reason it DOESN'T, then just think about how good you'll feel once your house is clean. People can think better and accomplish more things when in a clean space /area. I hope my advice helps!

If it looks overwhelming at first, just put your hand out on something- and whatever it touches, do what needs to be done with it. Don't think about the rest.
A lot of people like to play music to help keep them rolling. I generally don't, but there are times when it helps.
Now, it's actually a lot easier to do little chores when they come up than to let a whole bunch actually pile up. So try that. Your house will probably not get really dirty again for a long time, if ever.
If clutter is a problem- and it used to be for me, especially with dusting- then get rid of the stuff you don't want, and get shelves to help you organize the rest. After that, have a place for everything and keep everything in its place.
You might even want to make a list of the things that need to be done and check off things as you finish. And after that designate which rooms are to get extra attention on which days.
Good luck!

I put on some peppy music, wrap a scarf around my hair, gather all my energy and then I focus on cleaning. I keep things under control such as the dishes and the bathroom and laundry. I do other things in order; first the sweeping, then the vacuuming, then the dusting, then washing the floors. I plan cleaning times for the bigger tasks.
I don't love cleaning either, but I do it anyway because I like a clean home!

This may sound corny. It works for me tho . After I get a room clean. I take a picture of it. When it gets bad again, I look at the picture of when the room was clean. That seems to motivate me.

It gets pretty routine, you feel tired I know I wish I were living like a Princess and had cleaning people come in and just work just for meeeeee or maybe come in and know exactly what to do or my fave is assuming someone else will get to it lololol I wish!!!!!
Well lap me with the luxury of a male staff servant (s) that fed me grapes and answer to my every whim lol nope Im not there yet lol
Motivation is hard especially when we are a on the go Mom, Dad society or single and a student not raised to clean up after ourselves The best advise I can give is to 1st forget where you came from how you used to clean things Start with a fresh plan the night before grab a pen and start your list of things around the house that whewwwwwwwww can really use it dusting fridge splashes your worst pet peeves and limit each room to a daily spot checks & task Put this list in order by daily or weekly ..Tasks for that day you have a class or appointments or work mark one task and do that before leaving tidy up then remind your self or the kids and dad to do at least one of the things on the task sheet ...it takes less then minutes and if your by yourself remind yourself as soon as you get home and start dinner do a lil workout and take time for that extra lost calorie by doing one thing and then turn up the sounds of the cd player abit luminate your area by lighting candles scented ones in each room I love lite appealing scents when I workout too so when your comfortable in your CHI and personal space organize what exactly you would like to accomplish 1st create based on what you need top a priority.... a small task sheet (get a post it notes) stick ditto reminders in each room on seperate areas of the wall as a perfect reminder to do something at least one while you are in that room check it each room you walk in there is another small task to do when entering another soon you will get accustomed to pushing yourself a lil farther till you have the desired cleanliness and space you like to live in
Thats corny and thats my advise & I am sticking to it !!!lololol thats how I motivate myself.

Invite someone over! It's the ONLY way I clean.... Otherwise my home is "lived in." When I can write my name on my coffee table I consider getting the swiffer out....
I do NOT want "she was an excellent housekeeper" on my headstone when I die....
PLUS I resent the heck out of the fact that when I am home cleaning, I KNOW my friends are out doing something I'd rather be doing......
I've heard that some people keep a stash of signed get well cards and when company comes, place them on display and state that they are feeling much better now and welcome the company.....

It's best to plan ONE job and do one job. If you look at the whole house it will be overwhelming. Start with "pick up and put away". Resist going down rabbit trails that have nothing to do with the room you are concentrating on. After you see where you have been, and begin to notice that your efforts are making a difference, you will be encouraged. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day! Good luck!
