If you want the physical mechanics of creating a manuscript, your best resource book is "The Writers Digest Guide to Manuscript Formats."

If you want something online, I suggest you read the writers guidelines on many publishers websites. If they don't get specific, they want the default which is 1" margins, double spaced. First page has name and address in the upper left corner and the type of work (genre) and word count in the upper right. You begin the story 3" from top of page with either your title or chapter heading.

That will get you started. You still have to write the thing so you'll have time to get the book. You also want to pick up WRITERS MARKET 2007 so you know what publishers are looking for what you are writing. DO NOT SEND AN INCOMPLETE MANUSCRIPT. Doesn't work. Only an author with a proven track record can sell a book before it's written.
