the band is called hawthorne heights. and in the lyrics, it says my heart is in ohio, and ive seen other things say that, so what does it mean if your heart is in ohio?

Hawthorne Heights is originally from Dayton, Ohio. (only 1 hour from me!!!) So, when they say that, they're basically saying We're originally from Ohio. We belong there. or We first loved somebody from there.

Your physical body and your spirit are two different entities. Like the expression "home is where the heart is." you could live in a house, somewhere, but the things and people you love are somewhere else, so it is just a house, not a home.
In the song, his heart is in Ohio, because the people and things he loves are not physically with him. His memories and everything are connected to his spirit, and his spirit might have been left with him when he moved away from Ohio. So even though he is physically not in Ohio anymore, his memories, love, heart, and spirit is.

During the recording session everyone in the band was arguing with their girlfriends about the same thing: They weren't in Ohio with them. They wrote the song solely in tribute to their girlfriends because they knew they would be putting them through a lot in the next year.

Personally I think it's in general meaning that the heart isn't necessarily there with the person you're physically with, but is actually elsewhere with someone you're not with.
