My mate is an excellent singer songwriter, this is not an opinion it is fact! Everyone who hears his music is blown away by his talent. Hes already done the usual gigging around the UK, but its a hard market to crack these days. You need to be in the right place at the right time.
I just feel that his talents will go to waste, if we dont get the right people to hear his music.
Im not talking the average attempt at songwriting - hes the real deal!

Well he can make demo's and send them to the "men in black suits".
Also, put demo's on my space. If enough people listen to them then you stand a chance of getting a record deal.
Well, it worked for Lily Allen and Arctic Monkeys didn't it?

Set up a myspace music page. It has helped out countless numbers of great artists out there. You can also create an account on soundclick.com. It's a great website to get your music noticed.

I wouldnt get his hopes too high.
Maybe if hes persistent enough he may get a chance.
I would keep in mind that if his material is that good,
the chances of his material getting "borrowed" from him
are pretty good.

send his demo tapes to music agencies and also record labels.
