Hello,

I have a 80 gallon tank and was wondering how many fantail's, oranda's & black moors I could put in it? I do not want to upgrade to a bigger tank later on.

Actually yes gold fish are pond fish, but that doesn't mean they cannot live happily in your tank. Honestly you can have 2 oranda's, 4 fan tails and a couple of black moors with no problem and no health risk to your fish. Remember your fish will need more Dissolved oxygen (I'd use a power head) and good filtration. Weekly water changes and cleanings will be a must. Since you do not count the tail when measuring fish for water quantity, these fish will live very happily in your tank for a very long time. Gold fish DO NOT NEED 20 gallons per fish. As long as your DO2 is up to par and your filtration, they will not out grow your tank. Thousands of gold fish live long healthy lives in tanks all over the world. It just takes dedication on your part.

You can have four. Because these fish can grow up to 8 inches in length, you need to allow at least 20 gallons of water per adult fish. I went window-shopping at the local fish store today, you should've seen some of those fancies! They were, literally, I'm am not exaggerating, bigger than my fist. And then there's Bruce the Giant Oranda....

A total of four. I know that's not the answer you want. Goldfish do better in ponds.
I'd use an 80 gallon tank (that's an odd size, what brand is it?) for a small number of African Cichlids instead.

maybe about 5-10, depending on the size of the fish

4-5 would be about the limit once they were grown.
