Platypus or platy pi (you are correct) are native to Australia. It would be very hard to have them for a pet, because you can not pick them up, their poisonous barb will hurt you. Both males and females are poisonous. I am an Australian and doubt you would even be able to find a platypus, but you can see them in the wild if you come to Australia. Not even Australians have them as pets. Yes, you would get hurt very badly if they sting. You need a zoo licence to keep one, so unless you are opening a zoo, you would probably not be able to get one. Hope this helps- Andrea

Well, as long as you're building a penguin exhibit, you could have a cool waterfall that streams down into another exhibit with slightly warmer water for the platypus exhibit. of course, with both of these exhibits you'll want to have underwater viewing since that is where a significant portion of the action takes place.
