How can I get this resfreshed so it goes back to the normal size?

If there is no button left of the X button at the top you can press, try F11 or re-install.

there's a small button between the bypass out and the maximize button. Press that as quickly as which bypass your mouse into the nook of messenger window. you may then drag the window after which you'd have the flexibility to shrink or improve it to the needed length.

click on the max button and should let you adjust the size of the window. You just scroll to the edge and you should see like a two way arrow that is when you click and hold allowing you to resize the window.
