I want to see how long it would take for me to feel insane.
(This is for a book. I want to be able to show how an insane person thinks.)

There are plenty of ways, but most of them involve horrible things, like killing a person or getting raped. I wouldn't recommend that approach, as you may not be able to come back to the sane side of things. Try going on http://www.youtube.com and looking around for video blogs of people with ocd or manic depression. Many of them are sometimes lucid enough to to describe what's happening to them, and what it feels like. Sanity is a precious thing, and nothing is worth the risk of losing it.

PS: If you're absolutely determined to find out, you might try to get a very small amount of shrooms or LSD. That might give you a good idea of what it's like. Make sure you do it with a friend who can watch you and make sure you don't hurt yourself.

What a weird question. I think the quickest route to insanity is lots of mind altering drugs. But there must be better ways to do this research.

you have to be a bit insane to want to go insane,so your already part way there,no but really you should not try to go crazy , just watch a bunch of crazy movies like that one with jim carrey in it or just watch all the shows that david hasselhoff has been on, that should do it.

Trust me. You dont want to go there. However, if you want to know what it feels like to be schizophrenic.. You can induce psychosis by taking a large dose of meth-amphetamine. Though, this would be completely stupid. And it all depends on what you mean by "insane"

It is impossible to "break yourself."
Some people go through horrible experiences and come through them as sane as can be.
Others come from wonderful, loving backgrounds and have never had anything bad happen to them, yet, they become mentally ill.

Your mind is too important to play games with.
Why don't you interview mentally ill people instead?

How about not sleeping for 48 hours? you'll have hallucinations, you'll think someone's trying to kill you and feel like you're floating!

Hmmm.... You should watch the mainstream media--24 hour news networks. Watch them non-stop.
