I'm 19-20 weeks pregnant and REALLY confused on all the conflicting fitness advice I see. I'm slim but not really in shape, and I want to try and be "prepared" for what's coming. I used to run, but haven't in a couple years.

Are there any safe exercises (squats, lunges, crunches) I can do? What worked best for you?

Please don't suggest walking... my neighborhood isn't exactly ideal (I live in the boonies), and I refuse to walk alone for safety reasons. I have a dog, but the last time I tried that, I almost broke my jaw on the asphalt (long story).

Gyms and classes aren't feasible either unless they're free. Any activities I can do at home would be greatly appreciated!

I'm 15 weeks pregnant. I have been doing low impact aerobic videos and also been doing some weights videos.Just make sure that you don't use really heavy weights. What I really like are videos that combine low impact aerobics with some weight exercises like squats and lunges and some arm stuff. I

I've been having problems doing crunches. They've been giving me cramps. I've heard you shouldn't do crunches after 16 weeks because it's not good to lie on your back because the baby can put pressure on a big artery this way.

So go for the videos or DVD's. They're great! My doctor says that it's perfectly safe to exercise while pregnant and really good for you!

i dont know if you have a pool or if you have access to one... i was heavy when i got pregnant i was worried about gaining a ton of weight my doctor suggested water exercises... that way your body feels lighter to you while you do cardo... and its great for not getting you to overheated. good luck

I would ask your doctor for some suggestions just to make sure it is safe.
