yeah that team would be pretty nasty...the problem for me though, is as i try to assemble my team together, i keep thinking about leaving out WORLD CLASS players. should i not be a superstar in the team and instead put in good solid role players? its really a hard decision. the first dream team was full of superstars and at the time the world wasnt ready for them. now USA puts up their best players and the world IS ready for them....ill put together my team here of players...most superstars...but im really considering leaving some out in place for role players...

C - Amare Stoudamire
C - Dwight Howard
PF - Tim Duncan
PF - Kevin Garnett or Chris Bosh
SF - Lebron James
SF - T Mac or Carmello
SG - Kobe Bryant
SG - Dwayne Wade
PG - Chris Paul/Kirk Hinrich/Deron Williams
PG - Jason Kidd/Billups
UTILITY - Ray Allen/Jason Kapono/Gilbert Arenas/Michael Redd
UTILITY - Shane Battier/Luke Walton/David Lee

do too many superstars spoil things out there? Would it be best having a team with a do it all player like Luke Walton playing the SF, a solid double double player like David Lee playing PF and then players like Lebron, Kidd and Stoudamire manning the other 3 spots.....????

Starters:
C -- Shaquille O'Neal
PF -- Tim Duncan
SF -- LeBron James
SG -- Dwayne Wade
PG -- Jason Kidd

These are my starters because they are all superstars and they have all shown that they are extremely unselfish.

Bench:
PG -- Chauncey Billups-- He can shoot the 3, which is very important in the international game, pass the ball, and is willing to take a back seat to other stars.
PG -- Gilbert Arenas-- He can also shoot the 3 but he is also a complete scorer.
SG -- Kobe Bryant-- He's just too talented to leave off of the list.
SG -- Ray Allen-- He is arguably the best pure shooter in the world.
SF -- Shawn Marion-- His rebounding ability, ability to run the fastbreak, and his overall athleticism would be beneficial to this team.
SF -- Tayshaun Prince -- I may be biased as a Pistons fan, but he's an excellent defender and he, like Billups is willing to take a smaller role. Also, he is better offensively than the other defensive option, Bruce Bowen.
PF -- Kevin Garnett -- I could have easily put him in the starting lineup.
PF -- Dwight Howard -- His experience will be crucial for the US in the future as he is the only good young big man in the NBA right now (but Oden is coming).
C -- Ben Wallace -- His defense is extremely valuable in a mostly offensive group.
C -- Greg Oden -- This may be one of my two controversial picks; he is an excellent young star and along with Howard and Durant, he is the future of the US frontcourt.
PF/C -- Amare Stoudamire -- I was going to limit myself to two reserves per position but I wanted to include Oden and I needed to select Stoudamire.
PG -- Chris Paul -- He's a late addition; as I was doing this paragraph below, I realized I left off a player in Paul that I really shouldn't have.

I believe only 12 men are allowed on the roster but I'm sure many of my picks would reject their nominations, including Shaq, Ben Wallace, and Kobe, who have done just that in recent years. In addition, it is inevitable that one or more of these guys will be hurt during the Olympics. If not, it would be up to Coach K to decide which 12 of these guys will fit best together and are most compatable to the international game. Coach K, you've got a full plate for the 2008 Olympics, you just have to pick the correct entrees.

Starters

C- Dwight Howard: Best young big man in the league.
PF- Amare Stoudemire: Second best young big man.
SF- LeBron James: Long live the King.
SG- Dwayne Wade: Best two guard in the league.
PG- Chris Paul: Best point not named Nash.

Bench

Chris Bosh
Carmelo Anthony
Kirk Hinrich
Michael Redd
Joe Johnson
Greg Oden
Shane Battier

I chose these guys cause they're all team-first guys who won't complain about minutes or stats. They're also all pretty good players.

i love the picks of iverson, wade, and duncan, but you might want to consider Shaq at the center and Amare stoudemire in the backup..also you are forgetting gilbert arenas, one of the best.
