Yes. Well, I really wouldn't say anger, just confused and puzzled. Think about it: Segregation was thrown out the window nearly 50 years ago, and, instead of embracing the fact that we're all Americans with the same rights and common borders, there is still some compartmentalizing going on based on ethnicity and other factors. The most divisive punctuation mark in the United States is the Hyphen: African-American, Latin-American, Irish-American, Asian-American. The list just goes on and on. I am proud of the fact that different groups in this great country have different customs and traditions based on where their ancestors come from, but at the end of the day, we all live under one flag, one government, and in one country. Folks, do you really want racial equality? Well, then, break out of your small groups and come together.

It all comes down to this: Are you racist? I'm serious, i'm mixed and i think that the NAACP is just another excuse for people to argue. Tell me, why are black people considered minorities? haven't we pretty much proved ourselves equal to white people? Isn't that what we've been fighting for, equality? Black people AREN"T minorities, or at least they shouldn't be. White people and black people at this point are equal. The NAACP is not meant to offend white people. It's just something that black people have as a way of saying "Look at what we've achieved". If white people had something like that (which they do, so i dont see why you're complaining) it wouldn't be a scandal. It's just that white people as a whole have never really had to overcome any big obstacle; whereas ever other race in America has.
I repeat this: The NAACP does award white people which you'd know if you've ever watched it.
I repeat this also [just because its funny]: White people have a white history month, its March 1st-January 31st.

Black Americans' contributions have historically been overlooked or marginalized by mainstream (i.e. "White") America ... hence the creation of the NAACP Awards. And with the exception of sports and to a lesser extent entertainment, this is still true. So no, I do not find this show disturbing.

nah, i don't think it's that bad. I mean we do have a lot of white people at the oscars, grammy's, golden globes, etc. Having an awards show that honors black people is good b/c they've been thru so much thru out the decades. We need to acknowledge all the things that they accomplished and passed on to the rest of the world.

I don't think it would be a scandal for white people to have that kind of award. I am not white, but I look it, I am a mixture of things, but anyways, I think that white people should have that kind of thing too. We are all just people anyways.

I don't think so. The NAACP is about equal rights for the black community, so why not have any awards show that honors black people.

White people already have something like that
it's called the oscar, the golden globes, the emmys, etc, etc
and the NAACP awards doesn't only honor Black people...if you watched it you would have noticed that Bono won an award as well as the cast of ugly betty.

Yes, It also bothers me that there is BET (black entertainment television) Black history month and the united ***** college fund. or how about the black power t shirts can't imagine what would happen if some white guy started the white kids college fund or we had the Caucasian history month or all white TV.We would be called racists. I am glad it bothers someone else also, thanks for the great question it let me vent.

It doesn't anger me at all. I am happy that minority peoples who have been horribly discriminated against are elevating themselves to a higher level. I am white of European descent and do not feel the least bit threatened by racial equality. I welcome it. It will solve a lot of society's problems.
