Okay I have Windows XP on my computer, and when I try to go on it, it says "Insufficient System Resources Exist to Complete the API". Does anyone else have this problem, and can someone give me step by step instructions? Or do I need to take it somewhere to get it fixed or can I do it by myself and not pay a lot of money?

Thank you for looking!

You have a few choices, if you have the Disc, you can reload your computer, it not hard to do. Or you can do system restore, and give that a try. Just make sure, you have disc, and XP does have a repair function. You could also try safe mode if your computer will give you a start button.
Best thing to do, put the disc in, take your time, read everything you see, and reload the computer. If the disc are not present, then call microsoft, the can guide you through it.

I'm curious how much RAM you have. Windows XP really needs a minimum of 512 to actually run properly. Many computers sold with only 256 on it - and you'll always have problems with it.

Also, get rid of ANY icons you don't NEED on the lower right hand side of your computer. They use ram. I've seen computers where there are a ton of things running. The left side is your quick launch (for items you use a lot). That uses no ram. The right side is really for critical things, like your Anti virus, spyware, etc. You don't need your sound icon there. AT least disable it.

It sounds like you don't have enough RAM to process the task you are asking the computer to accomplish. Try adding more RAM to your computer.

Re-install XP. If the "repair" installation doesn't work you might need to re-format and then re-install for a "clean install". Do you have enough RAM?
