Are certain forms of racism being made acceptable in our society?
Can the whole immigration debate be interpreted as racist, especially when an Islamabaphobic approach and reasoning is taken?
Thanks.

Racism is on the increase - it seems that everybody hates eVerybody!

Racism is treating someone differently or unfairly simply because they belong to a different race or culture.

People can also experience prejudice because of their religion or nationality.

Racism takes many different forms. These can include:
Personal attacks of any kind, including violence
Written or verbal threats or insults
Damage to property, including graffiti
Why are people racist?

Unfortunately racism can exist in all races and cultures. Racists feel threatened by anyone who is from a different race or culture.

We are not born racist. Our views and beliefs develop as we grow up. If a child or young person grows up within a racist family, or has friends who are racist, they may believe that racism is normal and acceptable.

Prejudice of any kind is often based on ignorance and fear of anything unfamiliar.

there will always be prejudice and even holding preconcieved ideas about people, even non malicious ones i.e. chinese being clever can be seeen as racist. and i dont think the immigration debate is racist if they do not take into account the nationality. i dont agree with there being a limit' for the percentage of people from a certain place being let in. thats wrong. there is racial profiling, even for non-ethnic minorities i.e. 'yobs' and 'chavs' get picked on (not that these are necessarily white)

i dont think that getting caught up in racism in general should hold too much concern as you will become obsessed and paranoid. the best you can do is make sure that you arent yourself and pick up your peers on any racist things they say.

racism is very much alive. as long as some people continue to believe that they are superior to others then racism will not stop. it is easier to close of and judge a certain type of people then to try and get to know them and what they are about. young kids are already picking up certain behaviour patterns(racist) from their racist parents who cant accept that the world has changed.

I think racism is somewhat inbred in all of us..As individuals many of us try not to let it affect our judgements, but it is there in the background. As with any group, the crazies be it muslim, skinhead or even a biker, there is an expectation built into us. The media gives us images and that is what we expect. It is up to all of us to be strong enough to make our own decisions based on our own judgement of the people we meet.

Racism, as a segment of prejudice, is alive and well. Sadly, the more groups pf people are dehumanised through stereotypes and prejudice, the greater their resentment and so the cycle continues. Don't think about it for too long or you'll get depressed.

No the immigration debate is not "racist", it cannot be. It's possible that some involved in the debate ( if there is one) have their own axes to grind, but that is their right. If you want free speech you have to put up with this sort of thing.
If you want to control peoples thoughts and suppress debate you should move to
(.......insert name of your chosen repressive, Muslim state).
