my parents are dead againts me joining the military, because they are afraid i will be send to war, and die. But to me its, like i probably will die and thats the way life is, so why worry about it, because it is what it is. But my parents don't understand that, Idk how to explain that to them.

am i apathetic and a existentialist?

Regarding you final question first, I would say that yes, you probably are an existentialist.
Remember that your parents love you and do not want to see any harm come to you. whether you are crossing the street in your home town or a street in Iraq.

I commend you for your desire to serve your country. I think everyone should required to serve at least 3 years. (including the children of our politicians from the president on down) (without special favor, but I know that will never happen)
One thing to consider is our Coast Guard. You will help to protect our borders and those in trouble on the waters (and probably never see overseas duty, but don't quote me on that)
(talk to the recruiter on that topic)
Regarding living a life free from the fear of death: I have not feared death since I became a Christian at the age of 12.
I fear HOW I may die, but the after-life is not a concern for me.

If you have any doubts try reading Dr. Raymond Moody's books on Near Death Experiences.

I think the best answer was given by General George Patton. When asked about the duty to die for ones country he said,

"It's not the duty of American soldiers to die for their country, It is his duty to see to it that the other poor S.O.B. dies for his country."

I don't understand what you mean by saying that you probably will die. If you mean in combat, well, it isn't as bad as all that. The percentage of American troops killed is pretty low when one realizes how many serve and have served there.

Look, here is a better analysis of the situation. Not everyone who joins the military will go to the Middle East. Of those who do, not everyone will go Iraq or Afghanistan. Of those who do, most will never see combat the whole time they are there. Of those that do, most won't even be directly under attack. Of those who are, most will not even be injured. Of those that are most will not be seriously wounded. Of those that are most will not die. So you see, your chances of being killed are not so great.

But your chance of making a difference are pretty good. And remember there are some things far worse than death.

Maybe the military would show you how to use a spell checker. Also when one refers to himslf in writing it is written I not i. If you are over 18 you are legally an adult and your parents have nothing to say about it. While we should take advice from our parents as adults we are capable of making our own decisions. Sometimes those decisions are good ones and sometimes they are not good. It could be the best thing you ever do. Than again it could be the worst decision of your life. But, it is YOUR decision.
Good luck.

you're pathetic.. but you dont have ot be..

if you are fearless.. then have the guts to fight a fight worth fighitng..

how about fighitng for TRUTH!!

the military will send you to war to fight for the ultra rich.. so if you support that.. go ahead and join up.. otherwise.. join the protestors at the next anti-war rally.. and BE A MAN!!

You're an idiot if you're thinking about risking your life for oil and Israel.
