okay, the others don't know what they're talking about, because miss emily grierson DID kill someone and that was Homer Barron.
There are a few reasons, but really, she killed Homer because he was going to leave (he was a construction guy and thew work was done). Her father always drove away any men who were interested in her, so after her father's death, she holds tight to Homer, when he comes her way.
Another interesting motivation for Emily's murder of Homer Barron, however, is that they say within the story that he was "not the marrying type". Scholars have hinted that this meant he was a homosexual and would not have been interested in Miss Emily in that way, even though she was interested in him.
Nonetheless, Miss Emily wanted to keep Homer Barron around, as her husband, whether that meant he was living or dead. She bought the arsenic from the pharmacy and apparently poisoned him with it. Remember, she also bought a silver men's toiletry set, which she had monogrammed with his initials. Yikes.
Remember, whatever she did, Tobe, her servant, probably knew about it.
What a great story. :)

Did she??, that's what i think is the crux of the short, not yes or no but the reader's response. Faulnker is not Dickens here not for the definative.
