I am a conservative overall with somewhat of a liberal slant towards economic issues. I believe in the family unit, gun ownership, and individual responsability. I do not agree with issues like abortion on demand for underage girls, smoking bans, anti-gun groups, most consumer goods regulation (like toys), etc. But I am also leary about unrestricted trade with China and India. Some people think that this is unstoppable. What ever happened to the idea that anyhting is possible if you try hard enough? We can reverse that if we wanted. I was very liberal from about 18-23 but got out of it when I realized that for all the "hipness" of being a lefty it was pretty much very hypocritical.

I would be considered a moderate socialist, against abortion, I don't believe in homosexual marriage, and while in theory I believe in capital punishment I would vote against it in a referencdum, because of the inequalities with which it is caried out.
As a young man I was very fiscally conservative. I thought if the rich got richer, the poor would do better too. That is not what happens though. The gap gets wider and wider.
The more I have seen of suffereing in society, children starving, sick people not being cared for, the more I have moved to the socialist camp.
In Canada lately I have been supporting the New Democratic Party.

1. I'd suppose left. Mostly because I'm pro-environment, pro-gay rights, pro-universal health care, pro-free public college education, (very) pro-stem cell research (including embryonic) & for progressive tax. The most important issues to me are related to increased science funding, medical funding & the border (discussed in part 2).

2. I disagree with the left on a few issues - I'm against affirmative action, against illegal immigration (the left is stereotyped as being for it. Although the right has a lot of people (like Bush & McCain) who seem to be the same way) & I don't like the overuse of race cards, gender cards, sexual orientation cards, etc... I get annoyed constantly seeing it played by people of all backgrounds... the right plays them sometimes, but the left plays them way too often.

3. Yes, it has. In high school I used to have conservative friends, so I was slightly more conservative (although I still disagreed with them on a lot of things... especially Bush related). Overall, my views haven't changed too much.

4. None really. I like being able to look at candidates & issues from an individual standpoint, rather than a party standpoint.

I am an American.

I love my country and all it stands for.

I believe in our Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

I despise Fascism, Nationalism and corporate greed. I vote Pro Diversity, and anti hate. I am a proud secular American.

Therefore, I am a Progressive Liberal, in the classic sense of the term.
I was solidly independent until 2000, now I live in the big tent of the wonderful Democratic Party. I have bee then way since I turned 18 in 1979.

I don't agree with this current administration across the boards and I can't wait to see them GONE.

I cannot stand the way Republicans have pandered to businesses and special interests. Time to enforce immigration laws
