... hard-working people should be responsible for supporting the lazy nutsacks who don't want to:
1. Work
2. Get off Drugs
3. Get off Welfare
4. Save money for themselves.
5. Have as many babies as possible.
6. Get up before noon and get a job
7. Work
8. Work
9. Work-- I can't stress this enough---most people's problems could be solved if they simply went out and worked and kept their life in order instead of waiting for the government to re-distribute our (working people's) wealth to them.
I know a bunch will respond, and I'm anxious to hear some spirited answers.

You're missing the point of welfare entirely.
It's not because we care about the poor, or want to help them.
Welfare is to keep the poor placated so they don't rise up and revolt and try to take from the rich.
It's been done for thousands of years (The romans gave out free bread and provided circuses)

I am not sure about it being democrats although they have the image for helping out. The problem is the changing value system of our culture. Programs designed originally for the downtrodden are now manipulated by those with the assistance at times of attorneys. Hard working people throughout all ages have borne the burden of taking care of those who are hedonistic at both ends: the poor and the rich. I challenge your notion on work for only one reason. There are legitimate cases of medical conditions that prevent working. However, due to lawyers, there are rampant abuses of in this area. To make matters the worst of all, our government employees provides the greatest abyss of lazy people on the planet. Once hired, never fired and the best retirement and health care until death. I would say it is less about democrats and more about the irreconcilable government created that is self-serving and preserving. We have all heard the horror stories about procurement such as 5 dollar nails. It is a systemic situation and the root cause is not a political party as much as it is human nature taking the path of least resistance. People who care know that easy is sleazy.

Why do you think people of either party want to support people who don't want to work. What I don't understand is why your party supports policies designed for those with, to attain even more while those without are not paid a living wage in today's society. Poverty and working adults should not be put together in the same sentence, it's unacceptable in this country. Explain to me why one person can make fifty million dollars a year while their employee might be making twenty two thousand and struggling. Capitalism is fine as long as we don't lose our humanity and forget our fellow man while becoming super wealthy. A person's work should at least be rewarded with the security that hard work will be sufficient to get you through life, unfortunately it's just not true. Some of the most demanding physical jobs are the lowest paying, the more "work" a person does is a direct correlation to their pay. Your question is yet another example of the same misinformation that is repeated so much it becomes the truth for some people.

I don't know why you feel the need to generalize people like that, both my husband and I work, we don't use drugs, I only have two kids (both of which attend private school), and both of us invest regularly in our 401K. I will admit that I only work part time, probably because I am working on my M.S.S.A./J.D.( Masters of Social Work and Law Degree). If this strikes you as being lazy, I would really like to know what more you feel I should do. While the current welfare system is rife with fraud, There are people out there who truly need help. Until we, as Americans, can come up with something better, I will stand by what we have no matter how flawed it is.

Yep that's why the democrats want to force women to have babies so there will be more welfare recipient! Yep that's why the republican president with a 6 year of republican congress did away with welfare.
Oops what was I thinking it's the democrats that are pro-choice. It's was a democrat president who passed the bill to change welfare!
BTW I do work and have never or will never be on welfare. Not an any drugs either.
Here is another interesting little fact the states who have the most welfare recipients are the red states. NOT the BLUE.

Because once slavery was abolished, the Democrats had no way of keeping vast numbers of people under their thumbs; now, with so many social programs, once again vast numbers are beholden to the Democrats.

With an unemployment rate of 4.6 percent (most of these are people changing jobs), and less than 1% of the combined state and federal budgets are for welfare - the statistics prove cons don't have a clue about the truth of the matter. That's a nice was of calling someone a liar.

You know, I'm a democrat and I agree with you. I think people should be offered welfare but only for a limited time. Sometimes people lose their jobs and fall on hard times. I see nothing wrong with supporting a person for a while, but when they take advantage is when there is a problem. I used to work at a grocery store and mothers and fathers use to come in and buy all their food on food stamps, and then buy a couple of hundred dollars of booze and cigarettes and there is nothing that I could do about it

I saw an answer that said Jesus would want us to help the poor. This is completely true, BUT NOT WITH WELFARE! We are supposed to give to the poor out of the goodness of our hearts. We should give to those that are hurting around us, people that we see and know are hurting. That is how it works, and that is how genuine people get help.
