she was fine (as far as i could tell, she seemed ok) this morning. then by 1, she wasn't responding to my calling her to the side of the cage and she was getting sick. now 7 hrs later her eyes are watery, and she has gotten sick alot more. i have been coxing her to drink, and she has nibbled on bread, but it doesn't stay down. i have taken her out of her cage and am trying to keep her clean and warm (but not to warm) but it seems like she is only getting worse. i didn't feed her anything differnt and it all came kind of sudden. there is no coughing, sneezing or diarreha so far, just vometing. does any one have any clue of what is going on? and sorry this is so long, i just wanted to give details.

sorry can't help you very much as rats are usually very healthy sounds like she could have a virus, keeping her a bit warm and making sure that she drinks is good ,trying to give her something nice to eat OK however if possible I would take her to the vet probably asap when you ring for an appointment find out the charge as some are more expensive than others but it does cost

She needs the care of a vet, so take her now. If you can't get vet right away give her Pedialyte for babies to help provide vitamins and minerals she's losing. But get her to a vet as soon as possible. I've been caring for a sick hamster for a week now and have been twice to the vet for antibiotics. Our female rat, we also found out has allergies and is on medication for this too.

Go to the emergency clinik OR call your local SPCA/HSUS or small animal rescue group -they can refer you or might even be able to help directly.

Are you sure she is vomiting? Rats can't vomit.... Maybe she is drooling? But this doesn't explain anything either and does not help either. Sorry, I'd really suggest you call one of the places I mentioned above or check out Weecompanions.com - The San Diego Small Animal Rescue group, which has great experience with rats, they may be able to refer you to a rescue person close to you.

Could have she ate something she wasnt suppose to eat?
Only thing i know to do is to say take it to the vet.
But its the weekend, probably the only places open are emergency clinics.
And its gonna cost alot.

i think the watery eyes thing is from cataract's but it could also be from old age and i don't mean to be rude when i say that
